Holy Spirit

Be filled with the Spirit
5 August 2009

living water

“God does not give the Spirit by measure” (John 3.34). Even so, we are encouraged to be filled with the Spirit. Is this a contradiction? No, they are two different things. If on one hand God does not give His Spirit by measure, on the other hand, seeking the fullness of the Spirit is the wisest attitude to have.

I say wise because the more involved we are with God’s thoughts and “drink” from His Word, the firmer we become in our faith.

To be filled with the Spirit means to fill the emptiness of our mind with God’s ideas, thoughts and counsel. This neutralises doubts. That’s exactly what happens to those who visit this blog. Every day there is a glass of fresh water to quench and strengthen the thirsty. Internet users become more resistant to attacks of evil, don’t they?

Don’t attend church this Sunday just to fulfil an obligation! Go because you are thirsty to drink from the living water that only the Lord Jesus can offer you. This will turn you into a fountain of life for those who are suffering.

“I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.”(Revelation 21.6)
